IMPORTANT NOTE on Operation of Pedestrian Signals on College Avenue
It has come to our attention that many of us are not entirely clear on how the new HAWK (High intensity Activated crossWalK) pedestrian signals on College Avenue in front of the Walla Walla University campus work.  That's understandable as they are new to our valley and will take some getting used to.  Please note that it is only legal for pedestrians to cross when they have the pedestrian  “walk” or “crossing” signal ...which only shows when the overhead HAWK signals are either full or flashing red.  During this time pedestrians have the right-of-way and vehicles need to be stopped (or, if flashing, vehicles must first stop, but are OK to proceed if no pedestrians).  At all other times, vehicles have the right-of way and pedestrians entering the crosswalk are “jaywalking” and can be ticketed.  Please be sure to observe the will help keep pedestrians safe and traffic moving.  Please Click Here for Crosswalk Safety Public Safety Announcement by Walla Walla University Thank you!

Effective immediately all Police Department functions are located in The Annex building located immediately behind City Hall at 629 S. College Ave. The City Hall at 625 S. College Ave is now home to all Community Development functions including Planning, Engineering, Building, and Public Works.
