1. How and where can I apply for an electrical permit?

You can apply for an electrical permit by going online, clicking on "Trades and Licensing," and then "Licenses and Permits," or you can call 1 (800) 547-9411. There is also a kiosk located at 310 A (Airport) Street in Walla Walla, Washington, at the Small Business Administration Building.

2. What are the requirements for installing a landscape sprinkler systems?

A permit is required to install a landscape sprinkler system. The permit cost is $28.35 and includes the necessary inspections. The city needs to inspect the connection to the water supply to make sure there is a device to protect the water supply. Such a device is called an atmospheric vacuum breaker. This device must be inspected to verify that the water supply is adequately protected against backflow.

3. What are the setbacks for building a storage shed or garage in the rear yard?

Setbacks are primarily designated by zoning within the city. Depending on which zone of the city you are in, the Community Development Department can tell you the zoning setbacks. There is also a limit to how much of your total lot you can cover. You cannot use a debit or credit card at the payment window. We do provide a third-party service that you can contact, Official Payments. You will have to consult a local phone book to see if they are listed. We are unable to give out this kind of information.

The police department.

6. How do I find who owns a particular property?

1. Is outdoor burning allowed in the City of College Place?

The State of Washington does not allow any burning within municipalities or urban growth areas.

2. Is the Fire Department a volunteer department?

Yes, we provide the highest quality service to our citizens with a volunteer staff of 40 members. These members are supported by three paid staff personnel.

3. What is Appointment Keepers?

On average the fire department responds to 1,100 calls a year. Of those over 75 percent of them are emergency medical responses.

Municipal Court

1. Can I change my court date?

If you need to change a court date, it will have to be done before the day of court. If you call the day of court, the request will be denied. Phone number for Municipal Court is (509) 529-1200.

2. How do I get charges dropped?

The simple answer is that you do not have that option. It is up to the city prosecutor to decide if charges will be pursued.

3. How do I get rid of a warrant?

It depends on the reason the warrant was issued. Contact the court clerk for more information.

1. I am a victim of a crime; how do I make a police report?

College Place police officers are dispatched via Walla Walla County’s Emergency Services Communications center (WESCOM) located in Walla Walla. If you need a police officer response, in person or by phone, for a non-emergency situation (something not occurring now) please call dispatch at (509) 527-1960. If you have an emergency (occurring now or just occurred), call 9-1-1.

2. I do not need a police officer but have Police Department-related business; whom do I contact?

If you need follow-up regarding an ongoing case or have questions regarding College Place city ordinances, concealed pistol permits, fingerprinting, or any other business related questions, please contact the College Place Police Department Records Office at (509) 525-7778 from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). Please note that if you call during nonbusiness hours, your call is automatically transferred to WESCOM.

3. I was involved in a traffic accident and need a copy of the report; how do I obtain one and is there a charge?

The answer to this question is dependent on the format used by the officer to file the collision report. Please contact the College Place Police Department at (509) 525-7778 during regular business hours and one of our records clerks will assist you.
