Public Disclosure

The College Place Police Department is committed to responding to your request for public records in a timely manner. This is also a requirement under the Washington State Public Disclosure Act (RCW 42.17).

So that we can process your request, we need a clear description of the specific record you are requesting. Within five business days (excluding holidays) of receiving your request we will either send you the record, or an estimation of the time needed to comply with the request. If we are unable to comply with your request for some reason, we will provide you with the cause for the withholding of the record. Please click here for a list of exemptions which may prohibit or restrict the release of law enforcement records.

To find out more about what is available to you, and the charges for the materials you are requesting, please contact the Records Unit at (509) 525-7778.

For security and verification purposes, please be aware that if you make your request by phone you will need to pick up the materials in person.

If you can make your request in writing, please mail it to:

Sex offenders have always lived in our communities. However, it wasn’t until passage of the Community Protection Act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement agencies routinely tracked where sex offenders were living.

The College Place Police Department is releasing information on registered sex offenders in College Place in accordance with the Community Protection Act of 1990 and related statutes. This information is not intended to create alarm or panic. Our intent is to inform our citizens and to enhance community safety and awareness.

These individuals have served the sentence imposed by the courts and in compliance with the Community Protection Act, have advised the Walla Walla Sheriff’s Office that they will be living in Walla Walla County. Please note that these individuals are not wanted by the police at this time. In addition, because there are no court ordered restrictions about their residences, the College Place Police Department has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may or may not live.

Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. In fact, such abuse could end law enforcement’s ability to notify the public. The College Place Police Department believes the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders gain their power through secrecy.
